Handicapped people are large minority groups, starved of services and mostly ignored by society, living in isolation and segregation where poverty is widely prevalent. Disability includes blindness, hearing and vision impairment, mental retardation and mental illness and other autistic disorder. In Bangladesh, an estimation of 16 million people are with various types of disabilities, which is around 10% of the country’s total population. Mr. Oliur Rahman, habitant of Shassawura village of Dakkhin Surman upazila under Sylhet District. He is, by birth, a crippled boy who is suffering from a number of severe physiological disorders, such as, whole body joint contracture, poor neck control, poor balance and coordination, wrist drop, flexor group of muscles tightness, weakness of pelvic floor muscles and foot drop. Due to these serious conditions in him, he could not stand on his own feet, could not sit properly, could not function his arms well and could not move his apt way. Disability had made his life difficult; he faced various problems every moment of his life. His father Oliur Rahman is a poverty-stricken man; he is the only earner of his family and has been sweating to manage his livelihood. More­over, regular treatment and medicine costs for his boy had made his life harder. the Bad days of Rahman and the pain of Hasan’s life lessened significantly when they met one of the representatives of SAWAB in his area and came to know about the disabled support project under its Health and Nutrition Program of SAWAB funded by IQRA International, UK. After becoming one of the beneficiaries of this project he regularly takes treatment from the healthcare centre and achieved a significant improvement in his life. He receives regular treatment in this centre for about four years and now he can stand on his own feet, can walk well and can control his arms from side to side.
