SAWAB always tends to fulfill the basic needs of the impoverished people of society. Among many of its programs, one of the paramount programs is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) through which it changes the lives of many people from all over Bangladesh. In 2021, SAWAB established around a thousand Tube wells in the country including Deep Tube Wells. Altaf Hossain is one of the beneficiaries of water well projects of SAWAB and lives with his family, a family of four members at Nalagoria village of Vakurta union under Koyra upazila of Khulna district. He is a village vendor who sells fish in his area and earns an insufficient amount of money to carry the costs of his family. That is why installing a tube well is a tough job for him. Altaf along with his family members usually bring water for their household chores from the home of a nearby neighbor which cost them a great amount of time and energy. Sometimes, they have to bring water from a polluted river beside their home. Consequently, they suffered several times from some severe water-borne diseases like diarrhoea dysentery, typhoid, etc. One day, Altaf Hossain met one of the representatives of SAWAB and took part in a social mobilization meeting at his locality. After a vigorous analysis and selection process, he became selected as one of the beneficiaries of the water well project of SAWAB. Finally, in 2021, SAWAB installed a tube well beside his conventional place where some other families get benefits, too. Now, he can easily fetch drinking water and water for their household chores. Altaf expresses his heartfelt gratitude and prayed for the healthy long life of the donors.
“Thanks to Almighty Allah. I am really astonished that I met one of the SAWAB representatives and became a beneficiary for the WASH project. Now, I and my family members don ‘t need to go long way for collecting water, also few other families now can take pure water from the tube well. I remain indebted to SAWAB and donors for such great assistance. I pray to Allah for their generosity. “
