SAWAB Distributes Emergency Food Aid to 1000 Flood-Affected Families in Laksam and Monohargonj,
In an urgent response to the needs of flood-affected families in Cumilla’s Laksam and Monohargonj regions, SAWAB, with the support of donor organization Repressive, distributed critical food aid to 1000 vulnerable families, ensuring sustenance for a month. Each family received a comprehensive 25 kg food package containing essential items such as rice, lentils, cooking oil, and a durable bucket for safe water storage, aiming to alleviate both immediate food and water needs during this crisis.
The distribution events, held on October 25 at Laksam Government Pilot High School and Monohargonj High School, united local leaders, SAWAB representatives, and community members to bring relief to flood-impacted families. Leading the initiative, SAWAB’s Chairman S. M. Rasheduzzaman, Director of Operations Mohammad Aftabuzzaman, Program Manager Mohammad Lokman Hossain Talukdar, Deputy Manager of Fundraising & IT Md. Khorshed Alam, Assistant Manager Abu Sayeed Molla, and Senior Officer Tuhin Mahmud ensured efficient and heartfelt service at the event. Joining them were distinguished community leaders, including Professor Md. Rezaul Karim, Advocate Badiul Alam Sujan, and educator Abul Bashar, who came to lend their support and encouragement.
Reaffirming SAWAB’s mission, Chairman Rasheduzzaman emphasized, “Serving humanity remains the core of our work. Since the beginning of this flood crisis, we have prioritized reaching the most affected regions and providing critical aid to those in need. Our vision extends beyond immediate relief to establishing long-term housing, Water Well, and Livelihood projects, helping to secure safe and dignified lives for the underprivileged. However, to make this vision a reality, we need the continued support of compassionate individuals and organizations. We appeal to our community and donors to help us expand our efforts, so we can keep uplifting those in desperate need.”
SAWAB has a longstanding commitment to addressing both the urgent and ongoing needs of vulnerable communities throughout Bangladesh.
Appeal: As families continue to struggle, SAWAB appeals for further support to ensure that critical projects in housing, water, and livelihoods can be scaled up, fostering sustainable change and empowerment for those in need.
