Baby Akter, a housewife of a day laborer, is living with her husband and a son of 9 years old at Savar. Rezaul Karim, husband of Baby Akter would earn not more than a hundred dollars a month and struggled a lot to manage his daily livelihood for his family members. Baby Akter had always anticipated a joyous life with her husband and children. But her life full of hope ended when she was married to Rezaul.
Baby’s stressful days ended when she met representatives of SAWAB at his village Bangibari under Birulia of Savar Upazila under Dhaka district. She came to know about the Microfinance Investment project ofSAWAB under its poverty alleviation program. This project drew her attention and she showed her eagerness to be a member of this initiative. She took part in motivational sessions and also shared her thoughts.
Later, she decided to take an interest-free loan to run a shop of cosmetics items. As she planned, she took a loan from SAWAB amounting to 80,000 BDT in 2020 and started her business. Now, she earns over 15,000 BDT per month and leads a happy life with her family members.
Baby now is overwhelmingly delighted and shared her feelings of exhilaration as “Alhamdulillah. I am elated that I luckily got the fund and now I am operating my own business which is profitable to us. I can earn now by selling cosmetics products and saving some of our profit for my children for their future and I am sending my child to school. I pray for SAWAB as it has helped us at our most disadvantageous time.”
