Zakat Donation Helps Bachchu Mia Smile Again

Bachchu Mia is a migrant in Birulia from Chandpur who lost his only asset – a small land for the river erosion. After losing everything he had to look for alternatives and migrate to Savar in Bagni Bari area under Birulia Union. He runs a small tea-stall but can’t manage family expenses properly because of shortage of fund to expand the business and keep more necessary items to sell in the shop. He spent certain amount to obtain the place to live, establish a small house. But with his 2 children, daughter studies in class VIII and son in Class II, it was very difficult for him to carry on daily livelihood without support from others.

He met SAWAB representative at his village and when shared life story with the representative of SAWAB, he was counselled and assured of certain assistance. Later, SAWAB donates him from the Zakat fund and assisted him to run his business well. He has experience of managing tea-stall and a bit of grocery shop; further training and financial support helps him to re-start his business and smile again.

Through the Zakat fund, Bachchu Mia was provided with all necessary grocery items (rice, flour, pulses, salt, sugar, oil, spices, soap, puffed rice, biscuits, chips, milk, and many other items) in a reasonable scale to start his grocery shop along with his tea-stall. Also he received training how to become an entrepreneur, manage the shop, keep accounts – all life skills training.  This allows him to feed his family nicely and now he concentrates on building his asset until it becomes a sustainable source of income for his family. Both his children now are going to school and he lives a better satisfying life with family. A welcoming smile is always there in his face after he starts a new venture of life through the grocery shop. He expressed his gratitude towards the Zakat donors and the implementing authority SAWAB for their kind support and cooperation to re-establish him in the income generating activities. He said: “I am ever grateful to the donor and SAWAB as they came and help me during my most disadvantageous time of my life and help to smile again. I wish all their success and pray to Allah for their betterment.”
